Storyboard // Formal Living Room Design Concept

We have two living room areas in our new house. The front living room has more square footage, but because we like to enter the house through the side porch, we are using the back living room area as our main family room. I want to keep the front living room as a formal room but also function as an office/craft space. This is what I have brainstormed so far!

Home Sweet Home – At Last! // Our 1962 Ranch House

Today, I am introducing you all to our new home!

It’s a 1962, three bedroom & two bath Ranch style house on 1.4 acres of land right in the heart our own hometown!

Without ever seeing the inside, my Grandparents invested in the property for it’s land value and closed on it mid October. For times being really tough on us right now, they blessed us with the opportunity to live there until we can get back on our feet.

The condition of the house was so bad it was almost condemnable. We had a really tight budget just in order to make it livable and only eleven weeks to do it.

After so much hard work and many late nights, we moved in three days before Christmas!

A lot of work still needs to be done but we are extremely excited to start this new journey!

Dream House // Backyard Inspiration + The Skate Ramp

One thing that both Jeff and I must have with our Dream Home is a backyard skate ramp! Yep, that’s right! This fam jam is going to be full of shredders one day. So, once the babe(s) grow up, we are going to need a back backyard to fulfill our little rippers dreams. That means half pipes, dirt bike tracks, trampolines and a pool for this family! Here are some ideas and inspiration that I found!

#1 // OC Ramps

This 16ft ramp not only looks nice, but it’s the perfect size. If we are going to build a half pipe on our yard, it’s not going to be less than 6ft. Where’s the fun in that? My main concern is making it look nice and flow with the overall backyard landscape and design. I like how this one is tucked in.

#2. // Pinterest

This ramp built in with a deck is totally rad! It could be pretty expensive but totally worth the entertainment! Although, I would go with a dark wood stain, not red.

#3. // Shawboard Company UK

I love this ramp! The dark glossy stain is perfect. It’s exactly what I want. I’m not a fan of the landscape design, but the chiminea can stay though!

#4. // OC Ramps

The same dark colored glossy stain as the previous ramp in #4 and the right landscaping would make any ramp look amazing next a pool!

#5. // Inside Out

Now this ramp is the definition of a little shredder! These people really nailed it Styling this ramp. It’s a little small but perfect for the little ones. These are the exact colors and textures that I want ours to have.

#6. // Skate-Home

Sand equals five stars in my safety book! Add palm trees and grass and it’s a little shredders oasis!

#7. //  Skate Dad

This one is bazaar! A half pipe in the trees! I wouldn’t do this but it’s such an awesome idea for the dare devil at heart!

#8. // Pinterest

This ramp is another one that’s tucked away just like I would want it. This one matches its surroundings perfectly and is totally feasible!

#9. // Tony Camp

Call me crazy but I think this bowl looks awesome!  It’s the kind of ramp that reminds me of my childhood or one that you would most likely find in my neighborhood growing up.

# 10. // Pinterest

This one must have cost a fortune but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a skate ramp as cool as this one!

Current Obsession// Moroccan Wedding Blankets

Dreamy and white with mirrored sequins, Moroccan Wedding Blankets are pure bedding bliss! Since we are still getting settled into our new home, I figured the least I could do is share another current obsession with you all! Right now I am drooling over Moroccan Wedding Blankets. Real authentic Moroccan Wedding Blankets were handmade by female members of the Berber Tribes of North Africa. As a traditional gift, the women relatives of a bride would spend up to weeks weaving one to give to the bride on her wedding day.

Want to try and make your own Moroccan Wedding Blanket? Lindsay, from White Buffalo Styling Company has the best DIY Moroccan Wedding Blanket Tutorial I’ve seen yet! I can’t wait to find some time and make my own approach!

10 Dreamy Outdoor Spaces

Source // Pinterest

Daydreams of warm weather and hanging out in the backyard are filling the minds of almost every soul in America right now. We definitely had a pretty crazy winter. Here in Virginia, we had close to record breaking amount of snowfall from one single snow storm. With a forecast of weather in the upper 60’s all next week, I’ve been daydreaming about the perfect set up for our next (and hopefully forever) homes backyard. Here are ten of the most beautiful outdoor spaces that I’ve seen and they are just oh so dreamy!

Current Obsession // Round Jute Rugs

Every once in a while one of these lovely round woven beauty’s will pop up in my Pinterest newsfeed. Today I finally found out what they are called, Jute Rugs! “Jute” is the name of a fiber that is used to make burlap. Jute had been part of the East Bengal (Pakistan) culture for centuries but now, the round Jute Rug is making a comeback with a new style! Now all that’s left for me to find out is, “How do I score one for super cheap”? So far, EBay has given me the lowest price tag set at $75. If I can find anything for less than that, then I might have to find out how to make them!

Before // The Famous Bentwood Rocker

Yay! The famous Bentwood Rocker has randomly fallen into my arms!Recently I’ve been seeing this swirling beauty all over Pinterest and Instagram. My pops scored it from one of my grandfathers properties and gave it to me! I’m not really sure why but it seems to be a trending piece.

The history of the Thonet Bentwood Rocker dates back all the way to the early 1800’s up until the 1960’s. Many versions of it have been made and it’s said to have a burnt stamp or glued plate into it if it’s authentic. Mines missing the arms and I haven’t noticed any signs of a stamp or glued plate. Regardless, I am extremely excited and thankful to be gifted such a beautiful and unique piece!

Out of the dozens of makeovers shared on Pinterest, none of them really spoke my style. I have reupholstered it with a white textured fabric/ old curtain, but it’s not making my heart sing. Right now I am taking my time to make the perfect fabric choice and I’ve shared with you the choices below! I want to hear y’all’s opinions!

Fabric Choice #1

If you saw my first DIY Headboard post, you might recognize this one. This is a gorgeous Turkish Tapestry that I found st the thrift store! I have just enough left to cover the rocker. It really pops next to the white. I don’t think it would look good with the two seperated from the back to the seat though. If I don’t use it for the Rocker I would probably make some pillow cases out of it!  The best part about this Tapestry is that when you flip it over, it’s like a whole new design… Which now brings me to Option #2!

Fabric Option #2

Compared to Option #1, this side of the Tapestry glistens with silver threading and isn’t as saturated. The silver kinda makes it stand out against the dark wood finish. The only thing that’s holding me back with this choice is having to part with it!

Fabric Option #3

This vintage fabric could give this Rocker an even more funky feel. It really brightens the whole mood of the peice. I feel like if the chair could talk, it would say “this dress makes me feel happy” or “put me in a nursery”. Hahaha yeah I’m crazy, I know!

Fabric Option #4

Speaking of chairs wearing dresses… The last option I have is this amazing traditional dress, from who knows where, that was also a thrift store score. I would place the top part of the dress on the back and go bottom to bottom, but I just wonder if it’s the right choice…

Stay tuned for my final decision!

Storyboards // First Bathroom Design Concept

I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret… So far, I haven’t once used my computer for this blog. Yep that’s right! Everything you see has been done straight from my phone. Since we are moving this month we decided to go ahead and cancel our cable and internet. I’ve been dreading not being able to use my computer, but as you can see, I’m making it work and getting by just fine!

Today I put together my first bathroom storyboard/ design concept. Speaking of, does anyone know the difference? Haha. All the “boards” I have made so far have been for fun. The last Storyboard post I shared, I mentioned that I was starting to get a feel for my style. Well, after I made this one that feeling progressed! For this being my first bathroom design concept, I am really stoked! The fact that I’ve made these designs without any computer design software is kinda keeping the faith going. What do y’all think? I’m anxious to hear some feedback!

DIY Headboard Inspiration

I’ve been searching for some inspiration to help me get started on another headboard project. The last one I made turned out beautiful! If you haven’t seen my DIY headboard project you can check it out here. I am so happy with the results that I’m saving it for Sage’s bedroom in the future. I have a feeling that this headboard project will turn out even better than the last. With these 5 ideas marinating in my head, the ideas have really started cooking!

How simple and gorgeous is this one!? It’s totally DIYable too. All you would really need is a large peice of wood, dark stain finish and a jig saw!

Source// Urban Outfitters

I was surprised to see this one was from Urban Outfitters and not a diy. It looks very similar to one I’ve seen in either Target or TJMax, except the shape is different around the trim. Anyways, this one seems like a great diy piece for all you wall-hanging loom-weavers out there!

This one comes from one of my new favorite design blogs, Amber Interiors. I love the colors and the paired authentic textile choices. It reminds me of my last DIY headboard but it’s not cushioned.

I love this boho natural beauty piece. It might be a little tough to make but the overall shape and design is just blissful and a great inspiration!

Last but not least, here is the most inspiring piece of them all! Isn’t this bed dreamy? Scratch that… it’s heavenly! If you’ve been following my blog then you might have noticed my love for some detailed woodwork. This one, I am swooning over!
I can’t wait to share with you all what I finally come up with!

Etsy Favorites // Tribute Designs

Ya’ll, I have found the jack pot! While browsing Etsy this morning for upcoming project supplies I came across the most brilliant and beautiful idea and creation I think I have ever seen. If you saw my recent post Stairways to Heaven, then you will understand my love for decorative stairs. Well, Cheryl with Tribute Designs now has the number one spot on my favorites list!

As an alternative to the viynl sticker and painted designs, Cheryl makes and creates the most beautiful wooden carved detailed stair risers that I have ever seen! Want to know the best part? All you have to do is place and attach the panels on top of your existing stair risers! This could be a great solution for renters or perfect if you are planning to sell your home one day because you could make them removeable if you needed too. What I also like about Cheryl and her work is that she seems to be either honest or just plain genrous with her pricing, compared to most money hungry people these days. I don’t know about you guys, but $35 per panel for these beautiful and brilliant creations is totally fair in my book! Do yourself a favor and Check Tribute Designs on Etsy out! If you do decide to purchase, I’d love to see your pictures of the final product! Here below is 4 of my favorite panels she offers.
